Stopping a stampede

The truth that two stampedes have taken place in only a week is unacceptable (“Yet one more stampede at TDP occasion in A.P.,” January 2). Such incidents present our scant respect for human life. Taking ample precautions should be made necessary. If freebies are to be distributed, this must be finished in an organised method. Individuals must be divided into classes and there must be sufficient police personnel round to regulate them. There also needs to be a contingency plan in place within the occasion of one thing going unsuitable.

A tribute to R.Ok. Krishnakumar

I’m devastated by the passing away of my expensive pal R.Ok. Krishnakumar, affectionately generally known as KK, in Mumbai (“Tata Group veteran R.Ok. Krishnakumar passes away in Mumbai,” Jan. 2). Simply three days in the past, I gave him a lowdown on the Carnatic music scene. He was interested in every little thing and listened greater than he spoke, as he all the time did. He was beneficiant to his associates along with his time and affect. KK was a pillar of energy to the Tata Group. Identified to be an alter ego of Ratan Tata, he introduced dynamism each to Tata International Drinks and Indian Lodges Firm. In retirement, he lent stature to Tata Trusts. There couldn’t have been a more sensible choice to manage the massive funds out there within the Tata Group for offering reduction to organisations and people in want. KK was non secular and visited Sabarimala each month until his well being permitted him to take action. I’ll miss him for a very long time to return.
